On Sunday morning, the residents of Shipora Bala area in the Anantnag town staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD).
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a local from the area said, “A few persons from our locality were collecting money from households some days ago for the power transformer, almost 200 house owners have paid 100 rupees each to restore the light in our area, despite that we are unable to see a glimpse of electricity.”
Another local said, “Despite paying huge amount of power Bills, the administration has failed to provide electricity in our area and now we feel protesting and blocking the roads is the only way to make the district administration, as well as Power Development Department, hear our genuine pleas.”
“they are making fake claims ‘they have restored power in Anantnag’, another local from the Shirpora said.
A local from Achabal area who was traveling towards the Government Medical College located at Janglatmandi with his Ill mother said, “this is not the first time that the residents of these areas are protesting, we often see the road blockade in Shipora, Donipawa, and other areas, the administration should make a separate way (road) for the people who belong from Achabal, Kokernag, Shangus, and other areas.
