Residents of Palpora Dailgam village in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district blocked the Anantnag-Kokernag road and staged a protest against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for failing to provide drinking water supply to the area.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the residents said that they said they face an acute shortage of drinking water supply in the village.
The residents alleged that they have brought the issue under the notice of the concerned department several times but the department pays no heed to their pleas.
They appealed to the authorities to provide them the scheduled drinking water at the earliest so they will not face problems ahead of Eid ul Adha.
“Water crisis has become one of the major issues in this area despite living in a water-rich belt of the Kashmir valley,” a resident told The Kashmiriyat.
Meanwhile, the Exon PHE Anantnag Mohd Haneef said that the department will look into the matter and redress the genuine problem as soon as possible.
