The residents of a Dardpora area in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Friday staged a dharna in Srinagar to protest the lack of even basic facilities in their area.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the protesting locals from this Kupwara area said that they have been staging protests against the admin in their area, however the administration has paid no heed to their demands.
“We do not have any good roads, electricity, clean water to drink and health care facilities,” the residents alleged.
They said despite repeated assurances from the local administration, the area has no playground for youth to play games.
“We had to travel over 100 km to reach Srinagar to highlight our genuine problems and to draw the attention of the administration since our protest in Lolab has failed to move the administration,” a protesting local told The Kashmiriyat.
They alleged that their area is lacking even basic amenities like water, power, and healthcare.
