‘Russia-Ukraine crisis’- Zelensky bans nearly a dozen opposition parties

Ukraine’s president Zelensky has ordered the suspension the activities of almost a dozen opposition parties, including the parliament’s second-largest group, Opposition Platform.

According to Zelensky, the activities of the opposition parties will be put on hold “for the period of martial law.”

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian officials have accused Russian forces of hitting a school located in the besieged city of Mariupol. The facility was sheltering some 400 civilians, primarily women, children and the elderly, the city’s council said on Sunday- a claim denied by Russia in a statement, which said the Russian Army is targetting “military facilities” only.

The Russian Defence Ministry, meanwhile, published footage showing military helicopters Ka-52 attacking positions of the Ukrainian army on Saturday.

The ministry stressed that during the operation which was conducted in pairs and at low altitudes ‘the stronghold of Ukrainian nationalists’ unit and camouflaged armored vehicles were destroyed.
