Sagir Ahmed, Killed in Pulwama had Migrated to Kashmir to help his Poor Family

Sagir Ahmed, One of the two civilians shot dead by unknown gunmen in Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, had shifted to the Kashmir valley about one and a half years ago from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

He had come to Kashmir to help his family get out of poverty, reported NDTV.
Sagir Ahmed was working as a carpenter in Jammu Kashmir.

According to the NDTV report, since Sagir moved to Kashmir, he was able to manage a steady income and used to send money back to his family.

“He was a carpenter by profession. He was working in Kashmir for one-and-a-halfyears. We spoke to him 3-4 days back. We had asked him about the situation he had assured us that everything was fine. He was planning to visit us,” NDTV quoted Sagir Ahmed’s younger brother, Naseem as having said.

Sagir is survived by a family of five, including an unmarried daughter, in Sahranpur in Uttar Pradesh.

“We want justice. We want compensation. He was the sole breadwinner for the family. I have a brother and three sisters to look after,” NDTV quoted Ahmed’s daughter Nazrana as saying.
