Police seized a Santro car loaded with illegal timber in Ganderbal area of Central Kashmir on Sunday.
“To curb the timber smuggling in district Ganderbal of central Kashmir, SSP ganderbal Mr Fayaz Ahmad lone JKPS has constituted a team headed by DySP HDQRs Ganderbal Ashiq Hussain KPS” a statement issued by police reads.
“The team has led a crusade against timber smugglers and has given them tough time” it further reads.
Police spokesman said that “on the night of 15th July acting on a specific input regarding timber smuggling ,a Santro car was recovered loaded with 9 wooden blocks of timber”
“However, the smugglers have managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness” he added
Police has registered an FIR NO. 116/2018 U/S 379 RPC and 6 Forest Act against the accused in PS Ganderbal.
