SC rejects plea seeking SIT probe into killing of Kashmiri Pandits

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a plea seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in the targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir in 1990.

The matter is currently being heard by a bench headed by SK Kaul, News 18 reported.

The plea was filed by Ashutosh Taploo, whose father Tika Lal Taploo was killed by in Srinagar in 1989.

Taploo’s killing triggered panic among Kashmiri Pandits who started leaving the Valley and was also followed by a series of target killings of Kashmiri Pandit leaders and activists in Kashmir.

The apex court allowed the petitioner to withdraw the plea and seek other alternative remedial measures available in law.
