Scattered thundershowers to hit Jammu Kashmir starting today: MeT

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a detailed weather forecast, predicting varying intensities of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming week.

Starting today, the 10th of July, many areas in the Jammu Division and scattered locations in the Kashmir Division are expected to experience spells of rain and thundershowers. This pattern is set to continue through tomorrow, bringing much-needed precipitation to these regions.

“As we move into the 12th and 13th of July, the forecast indicates light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered to fairly widespread locations. Notably, heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated spots within the Jammu Division on the 12th of July, which may lead to localized flooding and other weather-related disruptions,” the MeT Srinagar forecast said.

Brief spells of rain and thundershowers will persist into the 14th and 15th of July, affecting various scattered areas across the region. By the 16th and 17th of July, the intensity of the weather events is expected to diminish, with only isolated places receiving brief spells of rain and thundershowers.

Residents are advised to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas where heavy rainfall is forecasted.

Authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed, MeT said.
