
Kashmiri journalist, Khalid Gul has been arrested from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said here on Tuesday.
A top police official quoted by a local news agency (KNO) said that the senior journalist Khalid Gul of Anantnag has been arrested.
Khalid Gul, associated with Greater Kashmir for the last many years was arrested in an old case filed in 2017, the official said.
Though the details of the case are not known yet, A close associate of Khalid, who is a resident of Anantnag town’s Bakshiabad area confirmed his arrest and said that he (Khalid) was detained on Monday evening.
One of the senior most journalists from the Anantnag town, Khalid has done several ground breaking stories and highlighted issues of public importance from the south Kashmir district, where he reported for valley’s largest circulated English newspaper- Greater Kashmir.
Pertinently, his home was raided on November 19 when the Police raided houses of several journalists including that of Qazi Shibli in connection with the investigation of a case related to an “online threat” to journalists in Kashmir.
