Several Indian army troopers feared dead as tank drowns in Leh

Several troopers of the Indian Army died during an accident in the Leh district of the erstwhile state of Jammu Kashmir.

Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that a tank belonging to the Indian army met with an accident while crossing a river in Leh area of Ladakh.

The accident took place around 3. A.M. when a T-72 tank met with an accident in Leh, Ladakh close to the LAC near theDaulat Beg Oldie area of Leh, causing death of five Indian army personnel, including a JCO.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has issued a statement, confirming the accident.

“A mishap took place in the Daulat Beg Oldie area of Ladakh during a tank exercise of crossing the river yesterday in the sector due to a sudden increase in water levels there. Loss of lives of Army personnel is feared. More details are awaited,” the Defence officials said
