Following fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of the Kashmir valley, several areas in the frontier district of Kupwara have been cut off from the rest of the world.
Officials said that areas including Bangus valley, Kumkadi, Budnamal and Pothwari witnessed huge snowfall after which the areas have been cut off completely, which has forced authorities to suspend vehicular movement in the areas.
They said that 7 to 8 inches of snow fell on Sadhna Top, Z-Gali in Machil, and Ferkhian Top in Keran, causing treacherous conditions on the roadways. “Traffic has been suspended as a precaution,” they said.
Meanwhile, the admin has issued an avalanche warning saying that, “Avlanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 3200 metres over Kupwara in next 24 hours.”
