A biting cold wave has swept through Kashmir as sub-zero temperatures continue to grip the region, with Shopian emerging as the coldest recorded location at -8.8°C.
Anantnag and Larnoo followed closely at -8.3°C each, highlighting the intensifying chill across the valley.
The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded a minimum temperature of -6.6°C, maintaining its harsh winter streak.
Popular tourist spots like Sonamarg registered -8.5°C, while Pahalgam and Kokernag both shivered at -7.8°C and -6.4°C, respectively. Kupwara and Ganderbal also touched -6.4°C, mirroring the deepening frost across the region.
In south Kashmir, Budgam hit -7.0°C, with Pulwama not far behind at -8.5°C. Kulgam and Khudwani recorded minimum temperatures of -6.8°C and -7.1°C, respectively.
While the Kashmir Valley remains frozen, the Jammu region recorded relatively warmer temperatures.
The winter capital, Jammu, registered a minimum of 7.6°C, while Banihal dipped to -2.0°C, and Bhaderwah experienced 0.9°C. Kathua and Katra recorded 7.3°C and 6.4°C, respectively.
The Ladakh region continued its bone-chilling trend, with Leh recording -9.2°C and Kargil at -7.8°C.
The Meteorological Department has forecast generally dry weather over the next few days.
However, residents and travelers have been advised to remain cautious as icy road conditions persist, particularly in higher-altitude areas.
