‘Sextortion gang’, Three members arrested in Srinagar: Police

The police claimed to have arrested three persons including a woman who are allegedly the members of a sextortion gang.

The Srinagar Police said, “They extorted huge money from many gullible preys(victims). More arrests are expected in the case.”

Officials said that “On 27-09-2022, one Nazir Ahmad Rather S/o Late Gh. Nabi Rather R/o Dalwan Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam lodged a written complaint in Police Station Shergarhi to the effect that some days back, he received a call from one Saba (lady) and insisted him to meet for some work. Accordingly, he met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.”

“The said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room. In the meantime 03 other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making video,” they added.

Adding,“Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey into a well planned conspiracy of sextortion.”

In this regard a case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation was set into motion.

The accused were identified as Shaista Bashir @ Saba R/o Narkara Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Dar R/o Pethpohru Handwara, Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie R/o Narkara.”
