Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and its first 10 days are observed by Muslims in reflection and sorrow, commemorating the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) grandson Imam Hussain (a.s) in Karbala.
The renowned group, Shia Sunni Social Activists of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal organized a day long Water Distribution Camp at Public Park Beehama, on the eve of pious month of Muharram-Ul-Haram.
It is first time in District Ganderbal that both the Shia and Sunni activists have jointly participated and put forward a strong message of unity and brotherhood.
Activists also distributed masks among people. Those participating were Mohammad Amin Sofi, Bilal Ahmad Wani, Syed Karar Hashmi, Raja Parvaiz , Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Sofi Mehraj, Fayaz Ahmad, Hakeem Suhail Abbas Kashmiri, Syed Mehdi Moosvi , Hakeem Danish, Syed Hussain Rizvi, Hakeem Asgar Ali, Maqsood Hussain Wani and others.
Group of Social activists thanked S.S.P and other officials from Police department, who provided infrastructure and equipment’s for conducting the function.
