Shiv Sena’s lonely Muslim MLA wants to ‘protect’ Hindutva in Maharashtra

Abdul Sattar, Shiv Sena’s lone Muslim MLA wants to protect ‘Hindutva’ by bringing a BJP-led government to Maharashtra.

Abdul Sattar is apparently backing the rebel politicians who have rebelled against the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra.

According to a PTI, the Muslim MLA had voted for the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party in the Rajya Sabha polls held for six seats in Maharashtra on 11 June. BJP MLA Santosh Danve confirmed the same while speaking to reporters. He said, “I am sure Sattar would help BJP once again in the upcoming Assembly elections as he did in the Rajya Sabha elections.”

Abdul Sattar is a three-term MLA from Maharashtra’s Sillod constituency. He was earlier a part of Congrees but switched to Shiv Sena in 2019.

Aurangabad MLA Sattar is the only Muslim leader who is a state minister and was reportedly unhappy about not being given a significant cabinet position.
