A heated exchange of gunfire is going on between militants and Government forces in an encounter that broke out on Thursday evening in Mughalpora area of Turkwangam in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official earlier told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday evening a gunfight began when militants fired upon a party of joing forces 44 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF who had launched a joint launched cordon and search operation in the Tukrwangam area.
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Locals from Mughalpora told to The Kashmiriyat that searchlights have been installed amid an intense exchange of gunfire. “Locals living around the site of an encounter which is a residential house have been evacuated from the spot,” they said.
Meanwhile, more troopers have been rushed to the spot, they said.
They said that the house is located adjacent to a mosque in the area.
