Six militants have been killed in an overnight gunfight which erupted between militants and goverment forces in Batagund area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district late night on Saturday.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 34 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation late night on Saturday,
Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that six militants were killed after a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Batagund.
In the ensuing gunfight that raged inside the residential house of Nazir Ahmed Ganie, six militants have been killed while earlier four militant bodies were recovered, two more bodies have been found later.
The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, however as per initial reports the list includes Umar Majeed Ganie who recently appeared in a photograph clicked at Srinagar’s Ghanta Ghar.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that LET Commander, Mustaq Mir,Waseem Ahmed Wagay alias Saifullah, Khalid Farooq alias Talha, however officials are yet to confirm the identity.
Meanwhile internet services have been barred in the Shopian district.
