After the initial exchange of gunfire, no fresh firing has been reported during the encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in Haripora in the Trenz belt of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official had told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday evening 44RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Trenz area of Shopian.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that after the initial exchange of gunfire no fresh exchange was reported at the encounter site.
Meanwhile, massive searches are underway at the site of the encounter.
