Many areas in south Kashmir are reeling under darkness due to the power breakdown caused by the heavy snowfall last week.
Residents from South Kashmir areas told The Kashmiriyat that the authorities have failed to restore electricity in dozens of villages.
In Shopian district, the locals from Trenz, Amshipora, Moolu, Chitragam, Shermal, Heff, Memander, Wangam, Sugan, Chilipora complained that the electricity breakdown has forced people to use kerosene lamps and candles as they were using decades ago.
“They claim big things in media interviews but do nothing on ground,” a resident told The Kashmiriyat.
In Islamabad (Anantnag) District of South Kashmir, the Power Development department has failed to restore electricity in areas including Rooh, Chechripora, Kamad, Khashipora, Monghal, Malpora.
Consumers from various other areas also complained of inconvenience due to the delay in restoring power supply to their native villages.
Officials of PDD told The Kashmiriyat that due to the untimely snow the main lines that had suffered damages.
“The department has been working day and night to restore electricity in all the areas, by today evening, the electricity will be restored in all areas,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
