Shopian Killing: People ‘dissatisfied’ with Government version, Says MY Tarigami

The senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sunday said that people were not “satisfied” with the Government version over the Shopian killing, where a twenty-year-old was shot dead earlier today.

M Y Tarigami, who is a former MLA of the Kulgam Assembly seat took to his Twitter and said people were “dissatisfied” with the government version over the killing.

On Sunday, a civilian named Shoaib Ahmed Ganie, aged 20, who was a resident of Shopian’s Turkwangam area was killed near Darazpora which connects Pulwama and Shopian districts in the south Kashmir.

The Police had said that the 20-year-old was killed in “crossfire” when militants attacked a party of the Government force personnel in the Darazpora area on Sunday morning. Police said that Shoaib was killed in crossfire.

The senior CPIM leader demanded an investigation into the incident and said that the guilty must be punished.

“One more unfortunate killing of an unarmed innocent civilian at Turkwangam Shopian namely Shaiab Ahmad Ganie. People dissatisfied with the government version. We urge the administration to immediately order a credible probe so that guilty is identified and brought to book,” M Y Tarigami tweeted.
