The Shopian and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir have shut down for the second consecutive day to protest against the killing of three South Kashmir residents in an encounter in the Lawaypora area of Srinagar.

Locals from Awantipora, Shopian, and Pulwama townships told The Kashmiriyat that business establishments, Shops, oil stations ar shut in the area while traffic movement is thin on the streets of the twin districts.
Meanwhile, people in large numbers are visiting the homes of the slain for the third consecutive day.’
Parts of Srinagar have also shut to protest the killings, Meanwhile, in Islamabad (Anantnag) town, a partial shutdown is being observed to mourn the killings.
Three South Kashmir residents identified as Zubair Ahmad Lone, a resident of the Turkawangam area in Shopian, Ajaz Maqbool Ganai of Putrigam, and Athar Mushtaq from Bellow area of Pulwama had been killed during an encounter in the Srinagar district on Wednesday morning.
The family of the three-staged protests stating that the three were innocent and killed in a staged encounter, a claim refuted by Government Forces who said that the trio was planning a major attack on the Srinagar- Baramulla Highway.
