Sirnoo Pulwama Shuts Against Atrocities by Forces

The Sirnoo area in  South Kashmir’s Pulwama District is observing a complete shutdown on Monday against the ‘Atrocities’ committed by Forces in the area on Sunday during a cordon and Search Operation.

Educational Institutes, Shops and other business establishments are shut to protest the highhandedness of Forces, Locals told The Kashmiriyat.

Locals also staged a protest demonstration demanding the intervention of authorities.

A 65 year old woman identified as Saja Begum and a youth have been injured in the intense clashes that erupted in the Kar Mohallah of Sirnoo area on Sunday.

Massive Clashes had erupted during a CASO launched in the Kar gam locality of Sirnoo area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the duo were shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.

The 55 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid down the Cordon and Search operation jointly.

“The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Sources said.

Hundreds of youth hit the streets when the Anti Militancy operation was launched and threw stones on troops amid intense pro Freedom sloganeering.

The forces fired tear smoke shells and also fired in the air to disperse protesters.

Sirnoo is the native area of Zahoor Ahmed Thokar, the Army man who decamped with a rifle during duty in July last year.
