Situation Tense in Kulgam Village- People from Nearby Areas March to Batpora

Hundreds of women and men are marching towards Khuri Batpora area of Damhal Hanjipora belt in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that people in droves of hundreds and thousands shouting Pro Freedom and Anti India Slogans came out of their homes throwing stones on Government Forces.

The troops including 62 RR, 18 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police are conducting a joint Cordon and Search Operation in the area following specific inputs about Militant presence in the area.

As soon as the search operation was launched amid Pro Freedom Taranas and announcements in mosques, hundreds of youth poured onto the streets.

The troops fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, “They also fired on protesters to disperse them,” a local told The Kashmiriyat.

People in an intention to hamper the Anti Militancy operation are marching towards Khuri Batpora village from nearby villages including Gandwani, Chachmulla, Gadwani, Yaroo, Arah Halan, Lissarpora.

Meanwhile eleven youth have been injured in the ongoing clashes, three of them have been referred to Srinagar for treatment, hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat.

The injured have been identified as Sohail Ahmed of Yaroo Kulgam who has sustained pellet injuries on his eyes , Parvez Ahmed from Arah Kulgam has also sustained pellet injuries on his eyes.

Imtiyaz Ahmed and Sohail Ahmed Khan of gadwani Kulgam have sustained pellet injuries on their whole body, Mehraj Ahmed Teeli of Chachmulla has also sustained pellet injuries on his body along with Suhail Ahmed Bhat of Yaroo Kulgam.

Mohammed Yusuf Khanday of Khuri Batpora has sustained pellet injuries in his eyes.

Those with pellet injuries in the eyes have been shifted to Srinagar hospitals, Hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile four of the injured are also being treated at PHC Damhal Kulgam.

The clashes were going on when this report was filed.
