A Kashmiri student, Sheikh Anusha, studying in the 6th Standard at Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School and residing in Rajwar, Handwara, has achieved a significant feat for Jammu Kashmir.
She clinched the gold medal at the esteemed Pre-teen National Pencak Silat Championship 2023-24, held at the Pataliputra Sports Stadium in Patna, Bihar.
Anusha, competing in her weight category (34 to 36 Kgs), triumphed in her debut attempt, defeating her experienced opponents by a considerable point margin.
Her victory comes after previously securing a Bronze medal at the inter-state level earlier this year, hosted at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Srinagar.
The championship took place from November 23 to November 26.
