A Saudi Airlines flight carrying 250 Hajj pilgrims experienced a technical malfunction upon landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow on Sunday morning.
The aircraft, Flight SV 3112, had departed from Jeddah at 10:45 pm and landed in Lucknow around 6:30 am. According to airport sources, smoke and sparks were observed coming from the left wheel shortly after landing.
The pilot immediately stopped the aircraft and alerted air traffic control. The plane was then pushed back and moved to the taxiway, where all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated. The airport’s emergency response team quickly reached the scene and brought the situation under control within 20 minutes using foam and water.
Initial investigations revealed that the malfunction was due to a sudden hydraulic leak, which led to overheating of the wheel assembly and caused the smoke and sparks.
There was panic among the 242 Hajj pilgrims on board when they noticed the smoke. However, once the situation was managed, all passengers were safely disembarked, and no injuries were reported. Airport authorities confirmed that the cause of the issue was the hydraulic system failure in the aircraft’s left wheel.
