Snowfall continues down in south Kashmir, here’s the region depth wise

Fresh snowfall over the past 24 hours has blanketed Jammu and Kashmir, with various regions recording significant snow depths.

The snowfall, which began Friday, has brought both disruptions and scenic beauty to the valley and surrounding areas

In Anantnag district, snow depths ranged from 1 foot in Anantnag plains and Achabal to over 2 feet in Dooru and Qazigund. Pahalgam and Kokernag also recorded around 1.5 to 2 feet of fresh snow.

Pulwama district saw snow depths of up to 1 foot in Awantipora and Drabgam, while Pulwama town recorded around 10 to 11 inches. Tral received 1 foot 3 inches, and Pampore saw 10 inches.

Kulgam district experienced some of the heaviest snowfall, with depths exceeding 2 feet in Devsar Kulgam and DH Pora, while Aharbal also recorded over 2 feet of snow.

In Shopian, areas like Adjian, Heff, and Herman received over 1.5 feet of fresh snow.

Srinagar district witnessed lighter snowfall, with the plains of Srinagar receiving 8 inches of snow.

While this was relatively modest compared to other areas, it added to the winter charm of the city and caused minor disruptions.

In Ganderbal district, snowfall ranged between 6 and 8 inches in areas like Laar, Ganderbal town, and Sonamarg, with Zojila recording 1 foot 2 inches.

Budgam saw snow depths ranging between 7 inches in the plains and 10 inches in Charar-i-Sharief. Bandipora district recorded 5 to 6 inches of snow in Gurez and Sopore, while Bandipora town received 4 inches.

Baramulla district recorded snow depths between 4 and 9 inches in areas like Sopore, Rafiabad, and Kunzer, with Gulmarg receiving 1 foot 3 inches.

In Kupwara, snowfall was relatively light, with 1.5 to 3 inches recorded in areas like Pazipora and Chowkibal.

Meanwhile, in the Jammu region, districts like Kishtwar and Rajouri saw depths of 4 to 10 inches, while Doda and Bhaderwah recorded 2 to 4 inches. Banihal received 5 to 8 inches, and Batote saw 2 inches of snowfall.

The snowfall has brought a mix of challenges and cheer, disrupting transportation in some areas but delighting tourists and locals with the winter landscape.

The depth measurements have been verified through multiple local sources, although slight variations may exist.
