Social activist Zahid Mircha appealed the higher authorities to construct a drug de-addiction centre at Sopore town to combat substance and drug abuse in the town.
Social activist, Zahid Mircha said that the Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district lacks a drug de-addiction centre, adding that establishing such a centre in the town can help combat drug abuse.
“It aims to create awareness and educate people about the ill-effects of alcoholism and substance abuse and provide a range of community-based services for identification, motivation, counselling and de-addiction, after care and rehabilitation,” said Zahid Mircha.
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner assured him that the issue will be taken up with higher authorities and soon a drug de-addiction centre will be established at Sopore town.
