An army solider, reportedly, committed suicide in Rangreth area of Budgam District, today, with his service rifle.
He has been identified as Lance Naik Omprakash. The reason for this extreme step could not be asserted immediately.
A police official, while confirming the incident said that a case has been filed and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that a report by the Defence Ministry said that more than 1100 defence personnel have committed suicide between 2010-19. Mental Stress was the main cause of suicide cited by the Report.
