Barely five days after joining militant ranks, Anayat Ahmad Ziger of Arihal was trapped along with his senior associate Shahid Baba in Drabgam village of Pulwama district on Thursday evening.

Anayat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Ziger, a driver by profession according to his friends left home on 26th January, soon after Saqib Shafi Dar along with his associate was killed in an encounter at Khonmouh area of Pampore.

As militants appeared in funeral of slain Saqib at Arihal on 26th of January, Anayat who has been working for militants for many years went with them, said an official.

Belonging to a middle class family, Anayat was a good human being and down to earth person, said his friend Shahid, adding that he was inclined towards militancy since long but never informed his friends that he is going to join militancy and choose the path where he won’t survive for more than five days.

His father according to the locals was a local Panch but he later resigned and is presently earning his livelihood from his orchards.

Anayat according to locals is survived by one brother and two sisters besides his parents.
