Son of Hurriyat Leader Calls for an End to Stone Pelting

August 19

The Younger son of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has denounced stone throwing and said it has brought destruction for the people of Jammu Kashmir.

Syed Naseem Geelani, who is an assistant professor at SKUAST wrote it in an article in a Srinagar daily, Greater Kashmir on Sunday.

Naseem Geelani also adds that the youth who are throwing stones are becoming enemies of their own people.
Even though Naseem has not formally joined Hurriyat, but he went to the residence of shujaat bukhari on behalf of Hurriyat and his father to condole the demise of the veteran journalist.

The son of Hurriyat leader was summoned by NIA, which is probing the Hawala Funding to Separatist leaders, many believe that the article written by Naseem is an escape route from the clutches of NIA.

There is one Unique Public School in Dooru, Sopore whose land is partially donated by villagers and partly out of Geelani’s property. The school is run by trust, and Geelani appointed his younger son Naseem Geelani chairman of the school in March 2017.

Naseem Geelani, son of Geelani, jointly owns four canals of agriculture land at Humana, Rawalpora Byepass, Srinagar with his brother Nayeem Geelani.

Interestingly, Hurriyat leader Geelani has been justifying stone throwing time and again saying that it is only few of the options available to ‘helpless’ people of Kashmir.

In 2010 though, the Hurriyat leader after has detention in an interview to NDTV had called for an end to Stone throwing.
