Sopore Admin Bans Firecrackers, Loudspeakers by Street Food Vendors

Aadil Abdullah

Authorities have imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers as well as the use of loudspeakers by street vendors within the territorial limits of Sub-District Sopore, citing concerns over environmental pollution, public safety, and health hazards.

As per an official order issued by the Additional District Magistrate Sopore accessed by news agency JKNS, the purchase, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers are strictly prohibited. Anyone found violating the order by selling or using firecrackers will face fines and confiscation under relevant laws.

Additionally, the order prohibits the use of loudspeakers by vendors, particularly near religious institutions, hospitals, government offices, and congested market areas.

The directive will be enforced by Tehsildars and police officials, who will conduct regular inspections and awareness campaigns to ensure compliance. The ban will remain in force for two months from the date of issuance or until further orders, the order states. (JKNS)
