Shabir Khan

A 36-year-old street vendor from Sopore has been missing in Delhi since February 16, leaving his family in deep distress as they plead for his safe return.

Shabir Ahmad Shah, son of the late Ghulam Nabi Shah and a resident of Neharpora, Sopore, had traveled to Delhi on January 31 to purchase shoes and other goods for his small street business.

According to his family, Shabir remained in regular contact until the morning of February 16. His wife, Mumtaza, who was hospitalized at the time due to an illness, last spoke to him around 11:30 AM that day. “He said he would return home soon and even offered to send money if needed. But after that, his phone got switched off, and we haven’t heard from him since,” she had told The Kashmiriyat.

Although the goods Shabir purchased arrived back in Sopore on February 18 and 20, there has been no trace of him, causing serious concerns about his safety.

Soon after losing contact, the family filed a missing report at Nabi Karim police station in Delhi.

Delhi Police confirmed that information regarding Shabir’s disappearance has been circulated and that efforts are ongoing to trace him.

On Thursday, the family staged a peaceful protest in Sopore, appealing to authorities to intensify the search and ensure his safe return.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about Shabir Ahmad Shah’s whereabouts to contact Delhi Police at 8750870428 or 8744971797.
