For the past decade, residents of Model Town E in the Sopore area of Baramulla district have been struggling without access to clean drinking water.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, locals expressed frustration over the lack of response from authorities.
“We have visited the Jal Shakti office countless times, approached the concerned ADC, and pleaded with concerned officials, but they continue to ignore us,” said a local resident.
“Every time, we are given empty assurances—‘today, tomorrow, the day after’—but nothing ever changes,” he said.
Another resident, angered by the indifference of officials, said, “Instead of helping us, they question why we settled here in the first place. Is it a crime to live in our own homes? Don’t we deserve basic necessities like drinking water?”
The locals have urged authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the crisis.
