The Locals of Naseem Bagh area in Chankan of Sopore township in North Kashmir’s Baramulla on Tuesday complaining of official apathy said that their area has been turned into a waste disposal ground.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals said that the Sopore’s Municipal corporation has been disposing off all the waste near the Jhelum bank in the area causing serious threats to the river and the local populace.
Complaining of official apathy, a local said that they have approached the office of Municipal corporation several times in the past two years, however the officials have turned a deaf ear to their plea demanding removal of waste from their area.
‘Our children are facing breathing problems and the disposal is exposing the children as well as adults to serious health problems,” a local told The Kashmiriyat.
The locals demanded official intervention and asked the administration in Jammu Kashmir to help them live a healthy life by removal of waste from the Naseem Bagh area.
