Srinagar airport assault: Indian Army assures full cooperation in investigation

The Indian Army has said it is fully cooperating with the investigation into a violent altercation at Srinagar Airport, where an army officer has been charged with “murderous assault” against SpiceJet staff.

The incident, which occurred on July 26, reportedly began when the officer was asked to reduce his cabin luggage to comply with the 7 kg limit.

According to the airline, the officer responded by repeatedly punching and kicking staff members, leaving four employees with “grievous injuries,” including a spinal fracture. One of the injured fainted during the assault but was still kicked, SpiceJet said.

In a statement, the Army said it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline and is taking the matter seriously.

“The Indian Army is extending full cooperation to the authorities probing the incident,” it said.
