Three Militants have been killed in the encounter that raged between Militants and government forces in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Thursday morning.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police, on specific inputs of Militant presence in the area, laid a siege around a few houses in Batamaloo.
During this cordon, the Militants were asked to surrender, however, they opened fire upon the troops, triggering an encounter.
During the exchange of gunfire, three Militants were killed and the official said that the identification of the Militants is being ascertained.
One woman was also killed in the crossfire who was later identified as Kousar Riyaz, a resident of Firdous Abad area in Batamaloo.
One CRPF, identified as Rahul Sharma, was also injured during the initial exchange of gunfire. He has been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Locals meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that protests have erupted in the area.
