The Jammu-Srinagar highway has been reopened for traffic after remaining shut for over 24 hours due to mudslides at Panthal and other areas.
An official said that hundreds of vehicles, mostly trucks, were stranded on the highway after it was closed on Friday morning due to fresh snowfall in the Kashmir valley.
“Due to the constant efforts of the officials and the teams that were deputed to clear off the debris of the mudslides, the highway was restored around 1110 AM,” an official told The Kashmiriyat.
He said that as of now only light motor vehicles will be allowed to ply from both the sides on the highway.
Pertinently, Kashmir-bound trucks carrying essential supplies and other vehicles pass through the Jammu- Srinagar highway.
