The residents of Suderkoot-Bala village in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Thursday held a protest and blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road to demand the government to lift the ban on mining activities.
Urging the government to lift the ban on stone quarrying activities in their area, the residents of the village assembled at Bandipora-Srinagar road and blocked it at Suderkoot-Bala village.
The protesters as per the news agency said that the government has snatched their livelihood by banning the stone quarry activities.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a protester said that he has been facing a lot of difficulties since the government banned mining activities in his area. Similarly, the other people here are also facing tremendous hardships.
Sajad Ahmad another local said that the government should consider the demands of the poor families and must lift the ban at an earliest.
The protesters later appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter without any further delay—(KNO)
