The District Magistrate Ayushi Sudan, IAS, has issued a strict order prohibiting the ‘posting,’ ‘uploading,’ or propagation of incendiary messages and ‘terrorist’ propaganda within the limits of District Kupwara.
The magistrate’s order, exercised under section 144 Cr.PC 1973, aims to counter the misuse of social media by anti-national groups.
The order highlights various intentions behind the propagation of such content, including glorifying terrorist actions, intimidating and terrorizing individuals or the public, inciting violence, spreading disaffection, and promoting hatred based on religious grounds, all of which pose a threat to public order and tranquillity.
“Such acts by anti-national groups are prejudicial to the security of the state and are aimed at terrorizing citizens and public functionaries from carrying out their lawful duties,” stated the official order.
The order, effective immediately, requires the general public to refrain from engaging in any form of dissemination or sharing of content mentioned above on social media platforms within the district limits.
The District Magistrate, Ayushi Sudan, emphasized the importance of this order in maintaining law and order and ensuring public tranquillity in the region.
The directive, bearing the official seal and signature, was issued on November 30th, 2023
