Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that the era of street violence in Kashmir has come to an end.
With the streets now safer, people can return home late in the evening, a luxury that was impossible in the past due to frequent hartals and street violence.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Multi-Purpose indoor stadium in Handwara, Lieutenant Governor Sinha expressed his delight over the significant increase in youth participation in sports activities across the valley.
He revealed that Kashmir now holds the highest sports budget in the country, a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle for its citizens.
Addressing those who support violence, Sinha emphasized that they will be held accountable for their actions.
He stated that the government will not tolerate any harm done to innocent individuals and urged the people of Kashmir to resolve their differences through peaceful means.
The newly inaugurated Multi-Purpose indoor stadium is expected to be a hub for various sports events, providing the youth with opportunities to showcase their talents and build a brighter future for themselves and their region.
It also stands as a symbol of progress and peace, reflecting the positive transformation the valley is undergoing, LG said.
