A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) over north India could bring more snow and rain on Wednesday morning.
Moderate to heavy snow or rain is likely over Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Uttarakhand is also likely to experience isolated snow.
The WD will follow an eastward trajectory and gradually weaken.
Maximum temperatures will be a bit lower than normal over northern Punjab and most of the northeastern states owing to northwesterly winds. However, conditions will be warmer than normal in the south.
Night-time temperatures in northern India will be average or warmer than normal.
Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to witness isolated rain.
By late Friday, a fresh western disturbance–more powerful than the current one–will affect north India.
Widespread snow or rain with a chance of thunderstorms is forecast.
The valley is presently witnessing the 40-day long period of harsh winter cold called the ‘Chillai Kalan’, which started on December 21 and is likely to end on January 30.
The minimum temperature was minus 5.8 degrees Celsius in Srinagar while in Pahalgam and Gulmarg it was minus 12.3 and minus 10.0, respectively.
