Sudden 'cloudburst' hits Lolab’s Warnow region

A cloudburst like sound created panic among locals around the forest area of Warnow in north Kashmir’s Lolab region on Monday, however the officials have denied reports of a clouburst.

Locals from the area told The Kashmiriyat that the incident occurred in the upper reaches of Warnow, sending water cascading down into the lower belts. “The flow of water intensified within minutes, raising fears among the residents of adjoining villages,” one resident said.

Officials denied the reports of a cloudburst and said that there have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far. “There might have been a lightening incident, but it was not a cloudburst,” an official said.

Authorities have urged locals to remain cautious until the situation stabilizes, while further details are awaited.
