
Amid heat wave, the Directorate of School Education has decided to commence with summer vacation from July—01 in winter zones of Kashmir division.
As per an order issued by DSEK, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat, the DSEK said, “It is hereby ordered that all the Government Educational Institutions and recognized private Schools upto higher secondary level functioning in the Kashmir Division shall observe summer vacation w.e.f 1st July 2023 to 10th July, 2023.”
Pertinently, the Kashmir valley is undergoing a heatwave and the temperatures have equaled an 18-year-old record of 35 degree Celsius.
Parents of various children had appealed the administration to shut the school in view of the ongoing heatwave. The admin had issued several orders for the safety of children including conducting of morning assembly in places with no direct sunlight.
The weather is expected to get better from Saturday evening, as per the Meteorological Department Srinagar.
