Shivling Melts Completely- 2,42,165 Yatris Have visited Till Now

July 24 The ice shivling at the Amarnath cave in Jammu Kashmir has melted completely, as on Sunday evening. “The shivling has melted but ‘Mata Parvati’ is still intact,” camp director Sachin Jamwal told media reporters. The yatra is still continuing and approximately 5,000 pilgrims are visiting the cave every day. “Whether or not the shivling melts, yatris continue to visit because the cave itself has tremendous religious significance,” Jamwal added. On the 27th day of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 1,629 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. Till date 2,42,165 Yatris had the darshan of the Shivling at the Holy Cave.

At least 27 Amarnath Yatris have Died In the Ongoing Yatra

July 18 A 61-year-old woman, pilgrim from Maharashtra, died in the hospital today after being hit by a vehicle near the Saraswati Dham railway station on July 15. She was identified as Gaya Bhai Kaile. She succumbed to injuries last evening, the officials said. On the other hand, 18th batch of ''yatris'' with 1,983 pilgrims left Jammu today to join the annual Amarnath Yatra under tight security, officials said. The 60-day yatra to the cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,880 metres in the south Kashmir Himalayas, began on the twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal and Pahalgam in Islamabad district on June 28.
