At least seven houseboats were gutted in a massive fire incident in Nigeen Lake in Srinagar. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning, a massive flame erupted from a house which spread to the nearby houseboats immediately, causing damage to them too. He said that fire tenders were soon rushed to the spot and they tried to douse off the flames. "The fire erupted around 2:12 AM and damaged seven houseboats at the Nigeen club. We have received no reports of injuries so far," the official said, adding that the fire had been brought under control.

At least 33 families were rendered homeless after their residential houses got reduced to ashes in a fire incident at Noorbagh area of Srinagar on Thursday. At least eight shops were damaged in a midnight blaze at Gadyar area of Zainakadal in Srinagar. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out at Gadyar Zainakadal at around 01 am in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday. In the incident, five shops were gutted completely while three shops suffered partial damage, they said. Locals said the firemen arrived on time and tried to douse the flames, however, by the time they arrived, eight shops had already been engulfed in flames. Four residential houses were gutted in a pre-dawn fire at Ganai Mohalla area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.
