November 03 The Government Forces despite launching a massive crackdown against Militants in Jammu Kashmir have largely failed to keep a check at the Militant recruitment as more local youth continue to pick up arms. Despite having killed more than 230 Militants the last year, this year Militant recruitment has crossed the highest number in the last ten years as it stands at 175 in the first ten months of 2018. 1 Militant Killed in Rajouri, Claims Army

September 05 The Indian Army on Wednesday claimed to have killed a Militant and foiled an infiltration bid along in Rajouri district of Jammu Kashmir along the Line of Control that divides Kashmir between India and pakistan. An official said that upon finding a suspicious movement along the Line of Control, the army started a search operation during which one Militant was located. Upon being located, the Forces tried to stop him, however he opened heavy fire on the Forces who retaliated resulting into the killing of the Militant. They also said that the body of the Militant has been handed over to local police.

For the First time in a Decade, Number of Active Militants crosses 300

September 03 For the first time in a decade, the number of listed militants in Jammu Kashmir has crossed 300. For the past 10 years, the number of active militants hovered around 200 except in 2013 when only 78 militants were active in the Valley — this was the lowest figure since militancy erupted in the state in 1990. The main reason for the high number of militants has been local recruitment since 2017. As per records, 126 Valley youths picked up guns in 2017- which was the highest number since 2010 and this year over 135 have Joined the Militancy so far. The report compiled by the JK Police in early August reveals that 327 militants are active of which 211 are locals and 116 are foreigners. Youth Shot by Forces for not stopping at Check Post in Kulgam

August 29 A youth identified as Mudasir Ahmed has been shot by Government Forces outside their camp at Behbagh camp in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that that soldiers from 34 RR of Indian Army fired upon a biker allegedly after he did not stop at the Behibagh check point. The youth has been identified the youth as Mudasir Ahmed Thokar, a resident of Kadder Kulgam. Officials confirmed the incident to The Kashmiriyat and said that Mudasir was was driving at a very high speed and didn’t stop at two check points. Mudasir has been shifted to Srinagar Hospital for treatment.

August 29 A Massive gunfight has erupted between Militants and Government Forces in Banpora Muniwar area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 1 RR of Indian Army, 96 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a Cordon and Search operation in the area in the wee hours of morning. August 28 The Pakistan Government is preparing a proposal to resolve the Kashmir issue, The Human Rights Minister of Pakistan's Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari said. The Government, she said, will prepare a proposal on resolving the Kashmir conflict within one week and present it in the cabinet. Khan had also called Kashmir as the core issue of dispute between the two nations and said the only way to resolve Kashmir and other disputes is to sit on a dialogue table. In his first speech after winning the July 25 general elections, Khan reiterated that he wanted good relations with India. Forces Vandalize the house of a Militant in Quimoh

August 28 The Government Forces allegedly ransacked the house of a Militant Parvez Ahmed Bhat in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. A Family member while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that forces barged into the house and ransacked the household items and smashed the glasses inside the house. "We are not even sure if he has joined militants, why are we being harassed even if he has joined militancy?" a family member asked appealing Parvez to return home.
