Students Allegedly Beaten by Forces at Shopian

July 18 Several students of Sirajul uloom Higher secondary school Hillow Imam sahib were ruthlessly beaten by local army unit of 34RR located at Woyen imam Sahib, locals alleged. They said that students of class 8th and 9th were on way to their native village DK PORA however they were stopped by army near camp, taken inside and beaten up by the army men there. Soon after the news of beating students reached the area, locals staged protest and demanded action against the army men involved in the incident. Indian Allegations on UN Report are Baseless, Untrue-Says UN

July 18 The United Nations Human rights Council has refuted the allegations made by India and the Indian Media and stood by its Kashmir report- the first ever UN Human Rights report on Kashmir. The Indian Authorities including the Indian Army chief had called the report "Politically motivated" and the Indian media ran constant stories against the report released by the United Nations on June 14. The outgoing human rights chief had called for an international commission of inquiry into the allegations, but it wasn’t taken up during the last session which ended on July 6. Last week, UN secretary general Antonio Guterres had backed the human rights commissioner. The UN has in its media briefing said that India dismissed the report "Untrue and motivated" without even examining it. ...

Massive CASO Launched in Pahalgam Area

July 17 The Government Forces on Tuesday Night have launched a cordon and search operation in Chanigam, Pahalgamarea of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag)n District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 3 RR of Indian Army, 96 Battalion of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police have launched the operation. The anti militancy operation has been launched following a specific input about Militant movement in the area. 467 Local Youth have Joined Militancy Since 2010, 335 from South Kashmir

July 16 The Kashmir valley has been seeing a constant rise in the number of Militant recruitment after the fall the summer uprising of 2010. Reports estimate that as many as 467 local youth have become militants out of whom them 335 have come from 247 villages in South Kashmir. A report by Indian agencies has spotlighted the spread of the militancy that was quelled in 2010, but surged after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8, 2016. The report reveals that Pulwama district in South Kashmir tops the list, with 142 local youth from having joined militancy since 2010. July 15 The Government forces have launched a Cordon and search operation in Arihal Dangerpora Area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Sunday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. Massive clashes erupted in the locality as soon Government Forces laid a siege around the area when scores of youth shouting pro freedom slogans hit the streets. In this new photograph, 14 Militants have posed with automatic rifles in a Burhan- Style photograph which had gone viral in 2015.
