Hizb Planning to Shift Base from South to North Kashmir- Agencies

August 14 The Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen is now shifting focus from South to North Kashmir. So far, their base has been South Kashmir, but after the Operation All Out and the heavy casualty the group has suffered, the Militant group, as per a report is planning to shift its base to North Kashmir. According to Intelligence Agencies of India, Hizbul is working on North Kashmir for two purposes. First, drawing more North Kashmir youth to Join Militancy and secondly, providing local support to the Militants who cross from other side of the border. More than 250 Militants are active in Kashmir and most of them are operational in South Kashmir. Of these, nearly 75 percent of the Militants are local. Tariq Khan- The Son of a Political Stalwart is a Militant Now

August 12 In the corner of his three storey house, Nazir Ahmed Khan welcomes people who visit him as his son Tariq has recently joined Militancy. On July 25, bullets and grenades ripped through the building, walls damaged by the explosions, ceilings cracked, the windows and doors and glasses smashed to pieces. The house is one of the few testimonies left to a gunfight that raged in the South Kashmir township of Islamabad after a tranquil gap of 13 years. August 10 Though the Government Forces have been escalating Anti Militancy operation and making appeals to youth to move away from Militancy. However these growing encounters two more youth from South Kashmir district of Pulwama have joined the Militant ranks. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Adil Ahmed Wani son of Maznoor Ahmed Wani, a resident of Padgampora in Awantipora area of Pulwama District has joined Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba. 4 Army men Including Major Killed in North Kashmir Encounter

 August 07 An Indian Army Major and three soldiers were killed in a gunfight with Militant in Gurez Sector along the Line of Control in North Kashmir's Bandipora District. Reports suggest that Army intercepted a group of eight infiltrators who were trying to cross from Gurez in north Kashmir. The infiltration bid was foiled and two Militants have also been shot dead, they said. The killed troopers have been identified as Major KP Rane, Havaldar Jamie Singh, Havaldar Vikramjeet and Rifleman Mandeep from Indian Army's 36 RR. Details Emerging.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Basharat Nengroo son of Abdul Rashid Nengroo, a resident of Chotigam area in Shopian District has joined Militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen. 51 Taliban Militants Killed in Army Operations

August 05 At least 51 Taliban insurgents were killed and six were injured during an ongoing operation by Afghan forces in eastern Kunar province, Khaama Press reported. The sixth phase of Qahr Silab-2 operation kicked off on Friday night and is currently being conducted with the help of the artillery and close air support, a statement by the Silab Corps said. The statement elaborated that 51 Taliban militants including three of their key leaders were killed and at least six others sustained critical injuries. July 31 Naseer Ahmed Rather son of wali Mohammad Rather resident of Naira village of Pulwama district who was killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening near his house was lone bread earner of his family. Naseer who was posted with CRPF 182 bn in Pulwama, was transfered to Sanath Nagar and was about to join there after two days. 581 Militants Killed Since 2015

July 25 The Government forces have killed 581 militants since 2015 while 69 personnel died in ceasefire violations along the LoC and the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Kashmir, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre told the Lok Sabha today. In 2015, 108 militants were killed by security forces followed by 150 in 2016, 213 in 2017 and 110 in 2018 (up to July 22) along the Line of Control (LoC), Bhamre said in a written response to a question in the Lower House. He said 44 personnel of the Army and 25 of the Border Security Force (BSF) were killed in ceasefire violations since 2015. The LoC and the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Kashmir have been volatile.
