105 Militants Killed So Far in 2018

July 02 As of 30 June 2018, a total of 105 militants and 21 Government Force personnel have been killed in Kashmir this year, as per figures available to The Kashmiriyat. A unilateral ceasefire was declared by the Indian Government on 14 May when the Government forces were asked not to launch operations during Ramadan, during that month 24 Militants were killed. The Centre soon announced the resumption of intelligence-based cordon-and-search-operations in the state on June 17, 2018. The Indian home minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to announce that the government of India had decided not to extend the suspension of operations in Jammu Kashmir. Another South Kashmir Youth Joins Al Badr

July 01 Another Youth from South Kashmir has joined Militant ranks making him reportedly the 90th youth to have joined Militant ranks this year. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Dar Shakeel, a resident of Chillipora area in South Kashmir's Shopian has joined Militant outfit, Al Badr. The 22 year old was missing from his home in Chillipora which is a nearby area to Heff Shermal, the home to many slain commander including Saddam Padder and Waseem Shah. South Kashmir have been joining Militancy swiftly since the three encounters of April 01 when 13 Militants were killed in a single day. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that they are checking the authenticity of the photo that has appeared on the internet.

June 29 Three Militants have reportedly been killed at Pulwama where an encounter had raged at Chatpora area in South Kashmir on Friday afternoon. June 26 The Jammu Kashmir Police has said that 243 Militants are active in Jammu Kashmir which includes a healthy number of Locals Militants and only 63 Foreigners. June 10 The Jammu and Kashmir Police has conducted an intensive study of 156 local youth who joined militancy from 2010-2016.
