Students Protest in Baramulla Against Militant Killings in South Kashmir

August 29 Scores of students from Government Degree College Baramulla on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration outside the college campus against the killing of two Militants in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a large number of students shouting pro Freedom and Pro Militancy Slogans gathered outside GDC Baramulla. The protesting also shouted slogans against the attempts to abrogate Article 35 A before they dispersed off on a peaceful note. Two militants including top Hizb commander Altaf Ahmed Dar alias Kaczroo were killed in a gunfight in Muniwar area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District this morning.

August 29 A Massive gunfight has erupted between Militants and Government Forces in Banpora Muniwar area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 1 RR of Indian Army, 96 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a Cordon and Search operation in the area in the wee hours of morning. August 28 "You give less space to news related to the sufferings of the conflict, while Anti Freedom news is given front page space," Riyaz naikoo is heard saying in his nearly 12 minute fresh audio. He accuses sections of media of running an Anti Militancy campaign, "Our houses are ransacked, our families thrashed, that does not make news for you unfortunately and if it does, it is a small news, somewhere in some corner, while if any activity sounds negative against the Militants, it gets the front page space," Naikoo is heard saying in this fresh audio. After Report on Kashmir, Al Jazeera may soon Disappear from Indian TVs

August 26 Al Jazeera, the international News Channel has landed into trouble likely after post it telecasted a report on the situation in Jammu Kashmir which many believe has upset the Indian Security Agencies. The Channel may soon have to stop broadcasting throughout India as the Indian Home Ministry has withdrawn the security clearance given to the Doha based English news channel. "The decision of clearance of broadcasting has to be issued or rejected by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, our role is limited to security," Times of India quoted an official from Indian Home Ministry as having said. The Official has also told the newspaper that Al Jazeera has appealed the Government to not stop the broadcasting of the news Channel. (The Kashmiriyat)  

131 Youth Have Joined Militancy till July 31, Zakir Musa Gaining ground in Kashmir

August 26 Nearly 130 Youths from Jammu Kashmir have been recruited into Militancy this year, the highest since 2010, officials said here. According to figures available to The Kashmiriyat till July 31, nearly 131 youths have joined various Militant outfits with South Kashmir's Shopian district contributing the maximum of 35 so far. The number of local recruits in 2017 was 126, this despite at least 220 Militants being killed the last year. As per a report, many youngsters are joining the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a group which claims support of Al-Qaeda and is headed by Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Musa, who is an engineer from Noorpora in the Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Search Lights Installed, Door to Door Search Operation Continues in Shopian Area

August 24 The Government Forces on Friday jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the the Moolu Chitragam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Moolu Chitragam area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Moolu Chitragam locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. The forces installed LED Lights as a massive door to door search operation is underway. Pertinently Moolu Chitragam is the native to Mufti Tariq of Hizb ul Mujahideen. (The Kashmiriyat)

August 18 Shah Shahid The Locals of the Bhan area in Quimoh tehsil of South Kashmir's Kulgam District have accused the Indian Army of committing excesses against the local populace of the area. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals said that the forces barged into the village after a minor stone throwing incident nearby and smashed everything that met their eye. "Four Load carriers, Two Tractors, Four Cars, One passenger bus, one JCB was damaged in the action of the forces before they started smashing the window panes of at least a fifty houses," a Local Shahid Ahmed told The Kashmiriyat. Hizb Planning to Shift Base from South to North Kashmir- Agencies

August 14 The Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen is now shifting focus from South to North Kashmir. So far, their base has been South Kashmir, but after the Operation All Out and the heavy casualty the group has suffered, the Militant group, as per a report is planning to shift its base to North Kashmir. According to Intelligence Agencies of India, Hizbul is working on North Kashmir for two purposes. First, drawing more North Kashmir youth to Join Militancy and secondly, providing local support to the Militants who cross from other side of the border. More than 250 Militants are active in Kashmir and most of them are operational in South Kashmir. Of these, nearly 75 percent of the Militants are local. Hizb Issues Poster Asking Students to Stay Away from August 15 Events

August 13 The Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has issued a poster in Kashmir saying that people living in Kashmir should not be involved in any program related to Indian Independence Day. All the parents have been appealed in the poster to prevent their children from participating in parades and events on August 15, the poster reads.
